Whirl Magnet steps out of its style a bit with a blistering version of Pet Shop Boys song Opportunities. Originally released in 1985, the Pet Shop Boys song didn’t quite reach the top 40. Nonetheless, this English electronic dance group or sometimes better known as a synth pop group, has sold over 100 million records world wide scattering numerous hits including 4 number one singles “West End Girls”, “It’s A Sin”, “Always On My Mind”, and “Heart”. Believe it or not after all these years the best selling duo continued it’s legacy March 9th 2009 with the release of an album titled, Yes. Back to Whirl Magnet. They haven’t been around as long as the Pet Shop Boys, but nothing is more appealing on a track than a great sounding vocalist and this is what you get every time you hear Patrick Rezac sing a Whirl Magnet song. He, the pulse, and familiar melody of the cover give a new face to the classic. Listen to Altered States up to the right, you’ll notice it sounds quite a bit different than what you are about to hear.
